BANSHEE BOARDING CRAFT SHADOW DROP POD GHOST PHANTOM SERAPH SHADE SPECTRE SPOOK WRAITH

BANSHEE

The Covenant Banshee is a versatile vehicle capable of air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. The fast firing dual Plasma Cannons can plough through ground forces.

The Banshees fast flying effectiveness, along with its boosting capabilities and aerial maneuvers allows the pilot to escape hectic situations quickly or to provide fast aid for friendly ground forces in an engagement.

Along with its excellent speed, the Banshee is extremely maneuverable making it almost impossible to hit.

Though small arms fire may disrupt or disable the pilot, only heavy weapons are capable of inflicting enough damage to destroy the vehicle.

The Banshee is propelled by small anti-gravity pods attached to its wings. These pods create the field that keeps it flying, and make wailing sounds as the craft maneuvers, thus the name "Banshee".

BOARDING CRAFT

When capture of a UNSC ship is required, rather than to simply destroy it, often in the attempt to find vital information or when there are no other options, the Boarding Craft is used. When attempting to capture a ship, they simply use the empty escape pod docking rings to board the vessel--humans go out, the Covenant go in.

The Boarding Craft are reusable, able to leave the UNSC ship and return to a nearby cruiser should the need to retreat occur.

SHADOW

The Creep is the main troop transport for prolonged ground campaigns. They can carry several fully equipped soldiers over most terrain very quickly. It has forward firing plasma guns for clearing the way ahead of it, and a plasma turret on the rear fuselage for covering its troops during deployment.

Noticeable weaknesses are is its open design, which leaves its troops extremely open to enemy fire and also its lack of maneuverability.

DROP POD

When it is necessary to capture a planet rather than simply glass it from orbit, we use orbital insertion pods to drop Elites to the planet’s surface as shock troops. Use of these pods is very hazardous and is reserved only for critical situations, or when a surprise attack is necessary. The pods are coated with an energy shield to disperse heat and are armored to withstand anti-air flak cannon fire.

Covenant Drop Pods are released in space from Covenant Carrier Ships. They are used by Special Ops Elites, landing in combat zones to secure the area for more Covenant ground forces.

One of the most dangerous methods of transportation, the Elite must stand in a confined space as the Drop Pod hurtles through the atmosphere, crashing into the ground. A hatch at the front will then collapse allowing the Elites to mobilize for the immediate battle.

GHOST

The Ghost is the Covenant reconnaissance and rapid attack vehicle. It’s extremely quick and maneuverable and due to its anti-gravity pods can hover and even strafe, making it useful against enemy infantry.

Ghosts have been fitted with an overdrive feature which allows them to dump all of their energy into their engines, this prevents the weapons from firing but allows the Ghost to reach great speed.

If there is one flaw in the design of the Ghost, it is the fact it has a very open design. There is very little protection for the driver and therefore he is often exposed to enemy fire.

PHANTOM

The Covenant Phantom is a much more formidable drop ship than the Spook. It boasts an exceptionally powerful Plasma Turret and can literally drop its occupants to the ground without having to fully land.

The Phantom has much tougher armor than its predecessor, increased firepower and increased strength finding no difficulty (apart from room) in transporting even Hunters.

Whilst the co-pilot can aid in piloting the Phantom, it is his duty to use the Phantoms defenses.

Phantoms are fairly new in the Covenant arsenal but have quickly become a feared sight as their plasma bombardments can wipe out marines as its troops dismount.

  SERAPH

Probably the most powerful and feared of all the Covenants vehicles, the Seraph is our main space fighter and can be used as an aerial bomber. The Seraph is somewhat tear dropped shape in appearance and its outward look remind humans of the outer carapace of exotic beetles.

About three times the size of a Banshee it is a spectacular sight to behold and has the firepower to match. It has several Plasma Cannons which it uses in aerial engagements, using them to wipe out Longsword fighters and Pelican drop ships. Seraphs have three main functions in space, to escort Boarding Craft and Drop pods, ensuring they reach their destination. Protect spacecraft by destroying enemy fighters and using their Plasma Torpedoes to cause heavy damage on human vessels. Seraphs are the smallest of Covenant vehicles to have fully working, all around energy shielding.

SHADE

Although the Shade appears to be a light anti-vehicle weapon, the Covenant uses it almost exclusively in an anti-infantry role. The operator sits directly behind the gun and an armored control suite, but relies entirely on infantry support for protection to the sides and rear.

The Shade uses antigravity technology to lift the main bulk of the gun away from its stand. This provides slight protection from close attackers and allows the user to move around 360° effortlessly. The Shade has exceptional strength in its Plasma output, equaling that of the Plasma Cannons used on vehicles.

Recent versions of Shades have had energy shields attached to the front for added defense.

  SPECTRE

The Spectre is a agile ground attack vehicle used for patrols and engagements. The Spectre has a plasma turret mounted on the rear, and has room on the sides for two Elites to ride along for increased anti-infantry capacity. It maneuvers more slowly than it's lighter counterpart, the Ghost, but it still uses anti-gravity pods to hover and strafe, allowing for a smooth ride over all terrains.

SPOOK

*Made up Name*

Covenant drop ships are angular, U-shaped craft with troop carrier bays along the exterior of each "stem". Between the extended personnel bays, an energy field fluctuates visibly as it generates the ship's antigravity propulsion and maintain structural integrity. This same gravity-beam is used to ferry Ghosts and light ground vehicles to their destinations. In addition to the pilot, the ship is crewed by a single gunner for the under slung bubble-shaped plasma-gun turret - a Shade but upgraded to have a higher rate of fire.

Each troop bay can hold four fully equipped Covenant warriors, as the ship approaches the ground who are fully protected from enemy fire until the hatches on the side open.

I decided to call this a Spook as Marines get all spooked every time one arrives.

WRAITH

The Wraith mortar tank is the main tank for ground engagements. It fires very large blots of plasma which are encased in a magnetic field up into the air. These bolts then rain down on enemy troops with tremendous force decimating entire squads and crippling vehicles. Due to the fact that the Wraith fires in an arc, rather than line-of-sight, this vehicle's attacks are very dangerous. The mortar can bypass most defenses that its enemies have established and landing into the mass of their numbers. It is equipped with anti-gravity plates underneath its mainframe allowing it to hover over any anti-vehicle mines that have been placed in its way, they also allow it to strafe; though exceptionally slowly. The pilot is protected from all small-arms fire due to its thick armor and the vehicle can only be incapacitated by heavy weapons or artillery.

The Wraith isn’t without its flaws, however. A good soldier can predict where its shells will land due to their arc like nature and thus makes them easier to avoid. The Wraith also has very little armor at its rear making that part vulnerable to all weapons.
